Govt reshuffles law enforcement

The State government has engineered a reshuffle of middle-ranking officers in the State law enforcement.

The change in the line-up of Deputy Commissioners of Police and District Police Chiefs comes at a time when the police were facing accusations of custodial torture and other human rights violations.

Notably, the government has replaced A.V. George, District Police Chief (DPC), Ernakulam Rural, who had come under a cloud following the custodial death of S.R. Sreejith. It has posted Rahul R. Nair, DPC, Thrissur City, in his stead as DPC, Ernakulam Rural.

The law enforcement has also changed its Inspector General of Police, Intelligence. Ashok Yadav, who has returned from Central Deputation, will occupy the post vacated by Balaram Kumar Upadhyaya, who is currently IG, Kannur.

The Thiruvananthapuram City police have got a new Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order and Traffic, in R. Aditya. So does Kochi city with the posting of J. Himendranath as the new Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order and Traffic.

Malappuram DPC Debesh Kumar Behara, who headed the probe into the online mobilisation of protesters for the flash hartal that put communities on the edge last month, has been posted as DPC, Palakkad.

DPC, Kollam City, A. Sreenivas, has been transferred and posted as DPC, Kasaragod. K. G. Simon, DPC, Kasaragod, is the new Commandant, Kerala Armed Police Battalion, Adoor.

M. K. Pushkaran, DPC, Kozhikode, has been transferred and posted as DPC, Thrissur, Rural, and G.H. Yatheesh Chandra is the new DPC, Thrissur City. Pratheesh Kumar, DPC, Palakkad, has been posted as DPC, Malappuram.

Arul R.B. Krishna, DPC, Wayanad, has been posted as DPC, Kollam City. G. Jaidev, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Thiruvananthapuram City, has been posted as DPC, Kozhikode Rural.

Karuppuswamy is the new DPC of Wayanad. R. Nishanthini has been posted as SP, Headquarters, Thiruvananthapuram. She will also hold full additional charge as State Coordinator, Nirbhaya Cell, and Chief Executive Officer, Gender Park.

Uma, SP, VACB, Northern Range, has been transferred and posted as Commandant, Kerala Armed Police Batallion, Palakkad.
