WTTC is the international authority on the economic and social contribution of travel and tourism and its Tourism for Tomorrow Awards portray business practices of the highest standards within the tourism industry.

After a five-stage judging process that was inclusive of onsite evaluations, winners of the 2018 Tourism for Tomorrow Awards were announced in the 18th WTTC Global Summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina that had taken place between 18th and 19th April.

Virgin Atlantic had worked in partnership with the UK-based not-for-profit membership organization named Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) in order to create the world’s very first framework committed to address the various sustainability challenges for the purpose of sustainable in-flight catering.

Fiona Jeffery, chair of WTTC Tourism for Tomorrow Awards stated that Virgin Atlantic, together with SRA have delivered a real first in this place, considering the nature of their onboard food and drink supply to make sure that everything is sourced sustainably right across their supply chain establishing a brand new benchmark in the aviation industry and also raising employee and customer awareness of the sustainability issues within their food chain.
