‘Wayside Truck Freight’ floats digital platform

An app developed by Wayside Utilities Pvt. Ltd, a startup floated by a group of youngsters from the city for booking cargo and trucks, was launched by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Monday. ‘Wayside Truck Freight’ is a digital platform, aiming at bridging the gap between the truck and cargo providers. Promoters Vamsi, Monisha, Rohit and others said they wanted to provide easy and effortless solution to find and book cargo and truck providers pan India.

Launching the website, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the promoters should adopt a cautious approach and try not to repeat the mistakes committed by others who had developed similar apps in the past. He said they should also try to find out innovative solutions for ferrying cargo by rail and ships.

Logistic cost

Speaking on the occasion, VPT Chairman M.T. Krishna Babu cited the success story of China in drastically reducing the logistics cost by relocating various industrial units to the coastal areas due to connectivity. He said in India, the logistics cost estimated at 18% of the production cost and this should be reduced by using innovative solutions like Wayside Truck Freight.

RINL CMD P. Madhusudan said any initiative to reduce logistic cost would benefit major industries like Visakhapatnam Steel Plant which uses four tonne of various materials for producing single tonne of steel.
