Mazda Consultants acquired by TKDA

St. Paul engineering and architecture firm TKDA is growing by acquisition.

The company announced Tuesday it has acquired St. Paul-based structural engineering company Mazda Consultants. The five former Mazda employees are joining TKDA’s Facilities Engineering Division at its downtown St. Paul headquarters.

TKDA President and CEO Tom Stoneburner said in a press release the companies have worked together and shared resources in the past, making the transition easy. Mazda founder Rudy Rudina said in the press release the decision to join TKDA grew out of the company’s succession planning and familiarity with their larger partner.

“We are happy to stay in St. Paul, and happy to be at work in our new home,” he said.

Vice President Leslee LeRoux of TKDA declined by email to reveal terms of the acquisition.

TKDA has more than 250 employees in seven offices around the country. In addition to facilities engineering, it has divisions specializing in aviation, architecture, municipal services, surface transportation and rail.
