NBC loves its Blackspots and Blindlists -- procedural stories about FBI/CIA agents with so many twists and turns that your head will snap right off -- and it's continuing that trend in its 2018-2019 fall TV season. You can add The Enemy Within to the list of new shows coming later this year.
The series stars Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter as a former CIA operative who is dubbed the biggest traitor in American history (sorry Benedict Arnold and that pitchman who went from Verizon to Sprint) after a decision she made cost the lives of some of her coworkers. But maybe there's a twist behind that? Of course there's a twist behind that. Former Rosewood doc Morris Chestnut also stars as an FBI agent who must work with her despite the fact that he hates her guts when he comes across an enemy who has ties to Carpenter's character.
Ryan Eggold Returns to NBC as a Hot Doctor
The network is also looking to pull more heartstrings after the eye-wringing success of This Is Us with a series order for The Village. The drama is all about an apartment complex in Brooklyn in which all the tenants feel connected like a family. If you need an idea of what the show will be getting at, NBC offers this: "These are the hopeful, heartwarming and challenging stories of life that prove family is everything -- even if it's the one you make with the people around you." OMG grab a tissue! The ensemble cast features Warren Christie (Alphas shoutout!), Michaela McManus, Moran Atlas, Dominic Chianese, and Frankie Faison.
These are the second and third series picked up by NBC in the last week. On Friday, NBC ordered the medical drama New Amsterdam, which stars Ryan Eggold as a doctor.
NBC will announce its 2018-2019 fall schedule on Monday, May 14.
