The market breadth was in favour of the advances with 834 stocks advancing while 806 declined and 403 remained unchanged. On the other hand, in the BSE, 1187 stocks advanced and 1200 declined and 109 remained unchanged.
The Indian equity market was trading on a positive note on Tuesday afternoon with the Nifty adding 19 points and was trading at 10,734 while the Sensex was up 80 points or 0.23 percent.
Bank Nifty continued to move up led by ICICI Bank which zoomed over 8 percent despite the bank reporting a poor set of Q4 numbers. Bank of India and Federal Bank added over 1 percent each. State Bank of India from the PSU banking space added 1 percent in the afternoon trade.
CNX Realty was up 1 percent led by stocks like Godrej Properties which jumped 5 percent while Phoenix Mills, Indiabulls Real Estate and DLF were the other gainers.
The top Nifty gainers included ICICI Bank which was up 8 percent followed by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Eicher Motors, Grasim Industries and BPCL which added 1-3 percent each.

The most active Nifty stocks included PC Jeweller which plunged 11 percent. ICICI Bank added over 8 percent. PNB Housing Finance was down 6 percent after around 2.6 percent equity has exchanged hands in a block deal.
According to a report in The Times of India Quality Investment Holdings, an arm of the PE giant Carlyle, is said to be selling 80 lakh shares of the firm. This amounts 4.8 percent of its equity, for around Rs 1,040 crore with the help of block deals.
Axis Bank and Tata Consultancy Services were the other active stocks.
The top Nifty losers were IndusInd Bank and Mahindra & Mahhindra which shed 2 percent each while Infosys, Larsen & Toubro and HDFC Bank also traded lower.
The top BSE gainers included ICICI Bank which jumped 8.4 percent while INOX Leisure added 6 percent. Indian Bank and BEML along with Indiabulls Ventures were the other top BSE gainers.
The top BSE losers included names like PC Jeweller which shed close to 11 percent while PNB Housing, Trident, Suzlon Energy and Videocon Industries were the other losers.
Ashok Leyland, Exide Industries, KPIT Tech, Bombay Dyeing, Divis Labs, Godrej Properties, Jubilant Foodworks, Indiabulls Ventures and Pfizer were few of the stocks that hit fresh 52-week high in the morning trade.
On the other hand, 58 stocks hit new 52-week low including names like Alok Industries, Orient Cement, Idea Cellular, Suzlon Energy and Vakrangee among others.
