The Prime Minister, while addressing a rally at Koppal, spoke in favour of the measures taken by his government to ensure women's safety. Insisting on the importance of the toilets and sanitation, the PM said the move was crucial to ensure safety of women. Referring to such measures, Modi said: "Protecting the girl child is our commitment. We believe in the mantra of 'Beta Beti Ek Samaan'.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed at Koppal for his second rally in Karnataka today. Modi has been leading BJP's poll campaign with support from party stalwarts, including Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanth and Rajnath Singh.
Speaking at a rally in Pavagada, Rahul Gandhi listed out the achievements of the Siddaramaiah government in a bid to gain a edge in the ongoing poll battle in Karnataka, where elections are slated to take place on May 12. "In the past five years we ensured that hunger was eliminated from the state. In the next five years, we would make sure that everyone in Karnataka has a house," said Rahul.

Moments after the BJP mocked Rahul Gandhi for his PM remark, the Congress party backed its president saying: "Rahul Gandhi is the natural choice to lead the country as prime minister.. We appeal to every party to rise above all differences and walk hand in hand with Congress to ensure a better future for India." Responding to CM Siddaramiah's reaction to the I-T raid conducted in Badami today, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said: "The timing is not suspect. This is the time when electoral code violations take place. This is when deals are struck. That is when law enforcing charges look to prevent such deals. Congress should be answering questions about the money and not asking them."
Karnataka CM Siddramaiah's responded swiftly to the raids conducted by Income Tax officials at the Krishna Heritage resort in Badami. Reacting to the raids, Siddaramaiah said: "I have nothing to fear. The BJP is scared, their intention is clear."

The Congress chief Rahul Gandhi today hinted that he may become the PM if his party won the Lok Sabha election in 2019.
The BJP chief has blamed the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government of mismanagement over fund utilisation. Shah told TOI: "The Centre sent funds but it did not reach the actual beneficiary...I think the people of Karnataka have seen higher growth rate in BJP-ruled states and they are positive about BJP. "
Raising the issue of targeted violence against the saffron party's workers in the state, Shah said: "There was a murder attempt in a Bengaluru hotel but not even an FIR was being registered. As many as 24 BJP workers have been killed."
Speaking to TOI, The BJP President revealed why the upcoming assembly elections are so crucial saying: "Every election is important for national politics. But Karnataka is special for BJP..."

While the BJP President will hold four road shows in Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi will be speaking at Chikkaballapur, besides attending two corner meetings and an interactive session with a group of citizens.
While it is not clear as to how many rallies Sonia will address today, she is slated to speak at Bijapur. The former Congress chief will be breaking a nearly two-year-long political hiatus after she abandoned her poll campaign midway in Varanasi.
