Tourist’s death in Kashmir: Tamil Nadu CM asks people to plan safe journey

CHENNAI: A day after a 22-year-old tourist from Chennai succumbed to injuries in a stone-pelting incident in Kashmir, Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday spoke to Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to help Tamil Nadu officials to facilitate the safe return of some 130 tourists.
Palaniswami also asked people to ensure safety while planning their tour outside the state. “In future, people touring outside the state should ensure their safety and plan their trip accordingly,” he said in a statement.

Palaniswami condoled the death of R Thirumani Selvan, son of Rajavel of Chennai, who died at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences at Soura after his vehicle was hit by protesters at Narbal on the Srinagar-Gulmarg Road in Baramulla district on Monday evening. The chief minister ordered financial aid of Rs 3 lakh from the CM’s Public Relief Fund to the bereaved family.
