RAUTAHAT: Two children from the same locality in Rajpur Muinicipality of Rautahat district have drowned to death on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as locals Anija Khatun (7) and Sunaiya (6) of Kudiya Tole, ward no 6 of the municipality.
The girls had gone to take bath with friends in the nearby Aruwa River on Monday afternoon, and upon them not returning home till the evening, a search was started for them.
When family members and locals went in search of the children, they found their bodies in the river.
The bodies was brought to the District Hospital in Gaur for postmortem, said Inspector Manoj Yadav of the District Police Office, Rautahat.
Investigation is ongoing and the bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their families to carry out the final rites after postmortem, said police.
