Chandigarh(Narinder Jagga): Has the Local Body Minster minister misled the Chief Minister and Punjab cabinet on the sand mining report, which has been submitted a day before to the CM in a press Conference? If look at the statement of another minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, who is also member of Cabinet sub-committee on sand mining, in which he said that report is not ready yet and he is unaware about the report which has been submitted to the CM by Navjot Sidhu. Such issue rocked in the Cabinet meeting also, held today. Interestingly, no report on sand mining could be placed in the Cabinet by the CM, which had been handed over to him. But it was the protest of a minister why the Sidhu in much hurry in presenting his self-made report instead of sub-committee report, which is still in progress. A day before during the Press Conference organised by the CM Amrinder Singh on Shahkot bye-poll and some other issues, the minister Navjot Singh Sidhu appeared there in an informal way and submitted a copy saying it as cabinet sub-committee report on sand mining. Interestingly, CM had refused to explain about the report of sub-committee to the Reporters saying that the Cabinet would take a final decision on the recommendations made by the Cabinet Sub Committee on mining. But ignoring CM’s statement and rules of cabinet sub-committee, hasty Sidhu had got released press note about the sand mining report, which was to be discussed in the cabinet and later was to be given for public domain.
Daily Post had revealed about the differences in sub-committee, yesterday, when a minister for mining Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria had said that before presenting such alleged report, he had got a massage only from the Sidhu. Talking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting, another member of sub-committee and Finance Minister Manpreet Singh badal has disassociated himself from this controversy, saying he was out of station for three days and unaware about any development.
While talking to reporters after a function at GGS College, today, Minister Bajwa said that no report has been prepared yet on sand mining by the sub-committee. After the meeting, another meeting was held, where such issue was discussed that why was the incomplete report presented without taking other members into confidence and why were not the other members intimated. Sources told that amid the controversy, the CM did not place the report before the cabinet, today.
