Customs Dept. arrests gold smugglers at BIA

Colombo (News1st) – Customs at the BIA arrested two women on Tuesday (May 8th) for the possession of Gold worth over 10 million rupees.
The suspects had attempted to smuggle around 1.1kg of Gold into the country by concealing it in their luggage. The two women who arrived at the BIA from Singapore and have been identified as residents of Jaffna. The police noted that the suspects are aged 56 and 50 years.
The customs department has taken the gold into their custody for further investigations.
