Two killed, one injured in two accidents

Two persons were killed while another sustained minor injuries in two different road accidents here on Tuesday.

In the first case, a 48-year-old marketing executive was crushed to death at around 2.30 p.m. near Gachibowli crossroads on Tuesday when a water tanker hit the motorbike he was travelling on. The victim was identified as S. Ramesh Babu, a resident of Saroornagar.

“After falling off the motorbike, Ramesh Babu was dragged by the tanker for at least 20 metres. He sustained severe injuries and died instantly,” G. Sanjeev, sub-inspector, Gachibowli said. The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital morgue for autopsy and the tanker driver was absconding.

In another accident at Kismatpur crossroads during the wee hours of Tuesday, a 35-year-old man was killed while his cousin sustained minor injuries when a lorry coming from the opposite direction hit the bike on which they were travelling.

Rajendranagar police said that the incident took place around 5.30 a.m. when M. Venkatesh along with his cousin Kondaiah was proceeding towards Aram Ghar crossroads to reach Secunderabad Railway station.

“Venkatesh was a native of Srikakulam and came to his relatives’ house in Peerancheruvu here a few days ago,” police said.
