Yashas M.S. shares the honour with Sudershan K.S. of Holy Child English High School, Bengaluru

Yashas M.S., a student of Sadvidya High School in Mysuru, who topped the State in the SSLC examination along with Sudershan K.S. of Holy Child English High School in Bengaluru with 625 marks, said he was expecting the score as it was his dream to achieve it.

“Scoring 625 marks cannot be impossible. When B.S. Ranjan scored 625 marks in 2016, I too wished to score centums in all subjects and started preparing accordingly. Today, I have done it and the credit goes to the school and my teachers who coached us to stand out in the exam,” said a thrilled Yashas.

A voracious reader, Yashas said the environment of competition that had been created in school encouraged him to plan his studies and prepare for the exam. “It’s every student’s wish to be a topper. I stood first in all my class and preparatory exams. This gave me strength and confidence,” he said.

Yashas, whose father M.S. Shivamallapa is an employee of JSS Medical College, and mother K.M. Chandrakala is a housewife – said he used to study for five to six hours daily. “It does not matter how long you study but how much attentiveness you give to your studies. That’s plays a role in your success,” he said.

Aiming to be an aeronautical engineer, Yashas said that there was no pressure on him and he studied whenever he felt like. “Sometimes, I used to study while listening to music as it helped me concentrate. I faced the exams positively and confidently. Four preparatory tests ahead of the board exam corrected my mistakes and bolstered me to face the exam.”

His proud parents said, “He was very normal and did not appear tensed or stressed out during the examination. He prepared for the exam at his own pace. Our son is positive in whatever he does.”

Aditi Rao and Keerthana, of the same school, also scored a remarkable 624 on 625. Aditi lost one mark in social science while Keerthana lost a mark in English.

Aditi, the daughter of Ashok Rao and Asha Rao, said she had not expected the score. “I used to study chapters the same day they were taught in school. I followed textbooks instead of notes. I used to study for six to seven hours daily,” said Aditi, who hobbies include writing poetry.

For Keerthana, ‘Missile Man’ the late A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is an inspiration. She aspires to be an aeronautical engineer. Her mother Rekashri works in Mandya TP. “I was expecting the score,” she said.

Shivani Bhat of Marimallappa’s High School also scored 624 marks. Shivani said she aspires to become a doctor and serve society. She lost a mark in Mathematics.
