Girls no less than boys; only they need courage: Devika

Girls are no less than boys. The only thing they need is the courage which could take them to fly high”, opined Devika, an eyewitness of 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack.

She was talking to media persons at Ru-Ba-Roo programme, held here at Press Club on Monday.

Despite all odds, Devika remained firm on her statement which lead to the execution of the main accused of the terrorist attack Ajmal Kasab.

Devika also received bullet injuries in the incident but fearlessly fought the battle against the terrorist in the court. Phone calls from Pakistan and Hyderabad repeatedly came in my father’s mobile but we never got frightened, she said.

Devika also had problem in her admissions to school as a Bandra based school in Mumbai denied her admission on security ground, she informed.

Replying to a query about his ‘Hero’, Devika said the real heroes are the jawans of the Indian Army who serve the nation and lay down their lives for protection of the motherland, she said.

Commenting on the rape cases of girl childern less than 12 years of age, Devika advocated for death penalty to the culprits. The culprits must be shot dead instead of being hanged, she opined.

Regarding death penalty to Kasab, Devika said she got relief when he was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court.
