Trump considers benching Giuliani from doing TV interviews

NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump has begun questioning whether his new lawyer Rudy Giuliani should be sidelined from giving television interviews.

That's according to two people familiar with the president's thinking but not authorized to speak publicly about private discussions.

Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, first rattled the White House last week when he sat for interviews on Fox News and seemed to contradict Trump by saying the president was aware of the $130,000 payout to porn star Stormy Daniels from his personal attorney. He also suggested the $130,000 settlement with her had been made because Trump was in the stretch run of his presidential campaign.

Giuliani's comments could complicate the president's standing in the special counsel's Russia probe.

Giuliani didn't respond to requests for comment from The Associated Press.
