NEW DELHI: Gangster Nadir Hayat has said his brother Nasir has been communicating with his accomplices outside prison through relatives of other prisoners who come to see them.
“Nobody except Nasir’s mother goes to meet him. But we got to know that some relatives of other prisoners have been passing on information,” a senior officer said.

Nadir had been on the run after murdering two members of the rival Chhenu gang at Jafrabad on April 19, 2017. From Jaipur to Mumbai, he had had several hideouts during this period. Before his arrest, Nadir was plotting to attack gamblers and others linked to a Shahdara betting ring.

“The gang had prepared a list of people involved in gambling and betting who are suspected to be close to Chhenu. They were aiming to target them during the IPL season,” an officer said, adding that Nadir was in the process of sending funds to his aides to procure weapons and ammunition when he was caught on Shab-e-Barat. A hit-list of Chhenu’s close aides like Imran, Shabbir and Mumtaz was also found on him.

Nadir said he maintained a low profile and constantly changed his hideouts. The gang took on rent many properties in various cities. Only top floor rooms were taken for easier escape if the police came close. He was in touch with a close group of five people with whom he was in touch through IMO video chat application.

Nadir and Hashim Baba travelled in cars purchased by their associates to avoid popping up on police radar. Nadir would roam the streets of Jafrabad at night to hunt for Chhenu’s aides. He changed his appearance by sporting a long beard.

Police are now looking for Hashim and are trying to bust the communication ring of Nasir.
