When it comes to health, training and working on improving your overall lifestyle, may be very important.

I know many people who just “shoot from the hip” daily. Some of them do very well. This is what works for them. I also know many who just simply cannot get it together.

What’s missing is the structured routine.

It keeps you accountable. It keeps you always thinking ahead.

We obviously cannot keep the same routine forever as things change. But if you’re someone who needs a routine, you know exactly what I am talking about. It keeps you honest. It keeps you motivated and when you need results you get them.

The routine you create sets you up daily for when you wake, what you do after you wake, the meals you prep, your activities after work and your serious approach to good sleep.

Without a structured routine, you simply fall back into old habits — those that are driven into the ground year after year.

I had a conversation with someone the other day about trying to get in shape, stay healthy and the challenges of staying on course.

She said, “It’s so difficult."

You bet it is.

It’s tough to start. It’s tough to maintain.

Look around you and look at all the places you can eat out. Look at all of the outside distractions.

What we lack at times along with a routine is patience. Man, do we overlook patience. It’s the typical we want instant gratification or instant results. It’s the human in us that thinks we all can do more and more often.

It’s the instant thought of, “I’ll look somewhere else for better results."

Good luck with that. Not only is your mindset completely off, you’re wishing for something that’s not going to happen.

It’s your fault.

If you're not getting results, it's because you haven't engraved a routine. You don’t believe in your own self and haven’t had enough patience to enjoy the process.

We want more, more, more. And fast, fast, fast. Yet, we haven’t set ourselves up with a routine that guarantees a win.

Why?

We’re too tired to get up early.
We’re too distracted by everything around us.
We’re too focused on the person beside us.
We’re always concerned with what we do not have versus what is literally right in front of us every day.

Find a structured routine and stick with it.
