The Battle of Hastings coin, created in 2016, has proven popular among collectors.

Royal Mint said of the piece: “To mark 950 years since the Battle of Hastings, the date that made history, The Royal Mint released this commemorative 50p coin.

“John Bergdahl’s medieval composition expertly captures the essence of the period.”

The piece depicts a figure from the Bayeux Tapestry.

The Benjamin Britten 50p coin sold for £585. 

The listing is titled: “Benjamin Britten extremely rare 50p 100th anniversary 2013 coin”.

It is being sold by user gla.uk.0ng1g3neq, who is from Tredegar in the United Kingdom.

The description reads: “Collectors coin. It is extremely rare it is to mark 100 years since the birth of composer Benjamin Britten. It is a lovely collectable.”
