Embattled MP Barry Urban to resign from WA Parliament
Updated
Embattled former Labor MP Barry Urban will quit parliament on Tuesday, the same day the results of an inquiry is set to release its report into the fake medal scandal that erupted late last year.
The Darling Range MP quit the Labor Party in November after admitting a medal he had previously claimed he was awarded for overseas police service had actually been purchased online.

That scandal was soon followed by revelations two universities Mr Urban claimed to have attended had no record of him.
Mr Urban apologised for those inconsistencies, but that did not stop Premier Mark McGowan referring the matters to a Procedure and Privileges Committee, which will release its report tomorrow.
A family member confirmed Mr Urban's intention to resign, and he is expected to offer a speech to parliament in which he will express his sorrow and regret for his actions.
Mr Urban's departure from parliament is set to see another by-election to be held in Perth in coming months, following last week's decision by Federal Labor MP Tim Hammond to resign from the seat of Perth for family reasons.
