Pay teachers by seventh day of the month: DoE

Order issued to schools in the Capital

The Delhi government has asked all schools in the Capital to ensure that salaries of all employees are disbursed latest by the seventh day of every month.

Allegations by teachers

The order came after a probe was conducted followed by allegations by teachers that salaries were not being disbursed on time at Guru Harkrishan Public School in Punjabi Bagh.

Although the school denied the allegations, a probe by the Directorate of Education (DoE) found that the school had been delaying payment of salaries since March last year by five days to a maximum of 45 days.

“The reply of the school was examined and found unsatisfactory on the ground that the school had disbursed salary to teachers and employees in their savings bank accounts with a delay of 5 days to maximum 45 days in violation of norms,” the order said.

“All the private unaided recognised schools are under obligation to make payment of salaries to their staff by seventh day of each month,” said the DoE in its order.
