CPI(M) to stay away from JAC

Dubbing the Non-Political JAC formed for fighting for the separate railway zone as another move to fool the people of Visakhapatnam, the CPI(M) has made it clear that the party would not be a part of the JAC.

Addressing the media on Sunday, CPI-M district secretary K. Lokanadham took exception to the formation of the JAC by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, saying that the latter had been silent on the issue for the past four years.

Ganta criticised

He alleged that the Minister failed to espouse the cause of Visakhapatnam and North Andhra all these years, but had now floated the JAC for political gains. From the days of the ‘Samaikhyandhra stir’ to the agitation for Special Category Status (SCS), Mr. Srinivasa Rao had only tried to further his personal agenda rather than meeting people’s aspirations, he alleged.

Recalling that the Minister had extended support to the JAC formed to fight against bauxite mining in the Visakhapatnam Agency, but had failed to oppose the G.O., the CPI (M) leader said Mr. Rao also had failed to oppose the G.O. issued to privatise the Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS).

He further alleged that the Minister had now jumped on the bandwagon demanding separate railway zone to win over the people. “If the HRD Minister is really committed to the cause, he must to exert pressure on the Centre through the State,” he said. CPI-M city secretariat members V.S. Padmanabha Raju and RKSV Kumar were also present.
