Watch Sonam Kapoor cutely mock husband-to-be Anand Ahuja’s American accent

Sonam Kapoor wasn’t the most vocal about her relationship with Anand Ahuja before the couple announced their wedding recently, but she never shied away from posting pictures with the businessman on social media. In an interview to Firstpost ahead of her May 8 wedding (although the video seems to have been shot before the announcement was made), Sonam, along with Buzzfeed India editor Rega Jha, discussed the pros and cons of social media. But during the course of the 14-minute chat, we also got a few tidbits about Sonam’s relationship with Anand.

When Sonam was asked about why Bollywood celebs don’t discuss their relationships in public, Soman said, “I will not talk to the media about my private life, but social media is still in my control.”

“I’m not going to disrespect the person and be like ‘this person doesn’t exist in my life’, but at the same time I’m not going to disrespect that person by speaking about him,” Sonam continued. The actor was asked if she tells Anand when she’s about to post videos of the two of them Skyping. “He has no idea,” Sonam said. She then appropriated a thick American accent and said, “He’s like, ‘I can’t believe you put that out there’”.

Host Janice Sequiera asked Sonam if she just put on an accent, to which Sonam said, “His accent is becoming more Indian now, because I have such a thick Indian accent.”

Sonam’s secret posts about Anand put him on alert, the actor said. “Now he’s always asking me, ‘Babe, are you recording me?’ and I’m like yeah,” she said sheepishly.

After weeks of speculation, the star couple confirmed their wedding date last week. While the mehendi ceremony was held on Sunday, the sangeet will take place on Monday (May 7). The wedding is on May 8, followed by a reception in Mumbai. The functions will be held at Bandra Kurla Complex, Bandra Bandstand and The Leela hotel.
