Ujjain: Governor Anandiben Patel on Sunday said that good work in society is never meaningless. Addressing State Patidar Women’s convention, she said that good deeds should be done in the interest of the society by eradicating evil. The Governor said that money should not be wasted in programmes like marriage. Such events should be conducted with minimum expenditure. The money thus saved should be invested in education and providing occupation to girls and boys so that society can be developed.
She said that practice of veil should be discarded. Women must respect elders and realise their rights. She said that today the number of girls in comparison to boys is declining. This gap must be overcome. Advising women against abortion she said that it was an offence. She said that modern machines like sonography can detect whether foetus is healthy or not but many people are misusing it.
Anandiben Patel urged participants to oppose child marriage in family and society. Marriage should be performed only after groom and bride have attained adulthood. Citing an example, she said that she stopped her nephew’s marriage at a young age. “One should not be deterred from good work by trouble. In order to bring happiness and prosperity in society, we should all take a resolution and keep moving forward for good work,” she added.
Earlier welcoming the governor and participants, MP Patidar Samaj Mahila Sangathan’s state president Pushpa Patidar said that social evils have to be eradicated and the convention was a step in this direction. “Do not think daughters as burdens. Instead educate them, make them self reliant for the sake of society’s development. She said that main aim of the organization was to end conservatism in society.
Ratlam district panchayat’s former president Nirmala Shankar Patidar, former MLA from Sabarmati (Ahmedabad) Geetaben Patel and Indore district panchayat president Kavita Patidar also expressed their views and said that before transforming the society one has to change oneself.
The Governor and other guests inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp. Book Kalyani was also released. Women and men of Patidar Samaj came from far away to attend the convention. The programme was conducted by Padmaja Raghuvanshi and Ketelben Patel expressed a vote of thanks.
Patel glad to visit Triveni Museum
During her tour, Governor Anandiben Patel visited Triveni Museum. She wrote in the visitor’s book, “Triveni encourages Indian culture. This is our heritage. Triveni Museum is beautiful, everyone should see it.” Dr Prakash Chandra Mathur and Prof Ram Singh of Triveni Museum and archaeology department informed the governor about the statues and idols of Parmar, Kushan and Sunga period. The Governor was also informed about the history of Lord Shiva’s Andhakasur, Bhairav, Nataraj and Tripuraantak statues.
Apart from this, description of statues of Sadashiv, Mahesh and Shiva was also done. The Governor also saw ancient books and historical coins kept in the library. She praised POP of Nathdara Mandir and sketches made of thermocol on walls of the museum. She also viewed bronze statues of Andhra Pradesh. Vinod Gurjar of the museum provided information about Krishna and also about statues related to Lord Vishnu’s Dashavataar story. After this, the Governor also saw the fascinating paintings of Mahabharata period. The museum presented Natraj statue of Lord Shiva to the Governor. The Governor praised the attractive artifacts and oil paintings kept in the Triveni Museum.
