Cabinet Secretary P.K. Sinha gets one year extension

The Modi government on Monday granted a year’s extension to Cabinet Secretary P.K. Sinha whose tenure was ending next month. As per the order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Mr. Sinha has been given extension for one year beyond 12 June 2018.

Mr Sinha will now be Cabinet Secretary till mid June 2019.

This is a second year-long extension given to him by the government, which had appointed him for the tenure of two years in 2015.

Mr. Sinha is 1977 batch IAS of Uttar Pradesh cadre.

With this extension, top contenders for the top bureaucratic position, Finance Secretary Hasmukh Adhia, Education Secretary Anil Swarup, Commerce Secretary Rita Teotia and Petroleum Secretary J.D. Tripathi have lost out for the coveted post.
