CHANDIGARH: In a shocking incident, a 4-year-old girl was brutally murdered by her aunt at their house in Mandkheri village of Jagadhari in Yamunanagar district in Haryana on Sunday evening.
The incident took place when Nandini was playing on the bed and her mother Rajni was busy in the kitchen. It is then that her aunt Pooja tried to escape after killing the girl, but was nabbed and later handed over to the cops. As the cops have also recovered some material related to prayers and havans, it is alleged that the accused committed the crime under the influence of black magic.
"Pooja has been arrested and weapon used by her has been recovered," said SHO of Sadar police station Naveen Kumar.
According to the information, victim Nandini was one of the five children born to Rajni and Vijay Kumar. Pooja was married to Vijay’s younger brother Jai Kumar and had a daughter and son. Pooja's daughter too was of the same age as Nandini.
Vijay told police that since the time, April 27, Pooja returned to her matrimonial home, her behaviour was changed.
On Sunday night, while Rajni was busy in kitchen, she heard cries of Nandini. She was shocked to see that Nandini was lying in a pool of blood on the bed and Pooja who had a sharp-edged knife was standing near her.
Pooja ran out of the house, but was overpowered by neighbours. Meanwhile, Nandini was rushed to the hospital where she was declared brought dead. Her body was sent to hospital for autopsy.
Though the accused has confessed to the crime, the family is yet to come to terms with the gruesome incident. "We never had any kind of differences among each other and were happily living. This has come as shock for us," said Vijay Kumar.
