Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued his tirade against the ruling Congress Government and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. On Sunday addressing four election rallies at Chitradurga, Raichur, Jamkandi and Hubballi in central and north Karnataka, Modi a star campaigner for the saffron party attacked the Congress for practising vote-bank and divisive politics.

At Chitradurga he said  “The Congress does not care about Dil or Dalits. They only care about deals. If they cannot do welfare, then they should be bid farewell.” He said after elections the Congress will be decimated and the BJP will form the Government.

He alleged that the Congress Government was only interested in celebrating Tipu Jayanti and said they have insulted the people of the State. “They do not know, whom they should remember and celebrate. Sadly, the Congress forgot brave women and men of our history. Just because of vote-bank politics, they are celebrating Jayantis of Sultans. The Congress has insulted the people of Chitradurga.”

“The Congress is uncomfortable and is misleading the name of Dalit community because today the highest offices of the land are occupied by people from poor and humble backgrounds.” “The longer they stay, the longer they will loot”. The Prime Minister said his Government at the Centre has the interest of the SC/ST community at heart and that they have worked to strengthen the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act”, he added.

In another rally addressing a massive rally at Raichur Modi said the Congress protects corrupt people, makes several false promises, and has divided Karnataka.

“The BJP is committed to development while the Congress is opposed to it at every step. The Congress protects the corrupt,” Modi claimed. “The Congress only makes false promises and never fulfilled any when they were in power.”

He called upon the people to throw the Congress out for its misdeeds. “The crimes against women are always in news. With vicious mindsets, some people assault our daughters,” he said.

The BJP is betting all its force to capture power in Karnataka which is seen as preamble to 2019 elections. The insiders in the party say that if they win in Karnataka it would be smooth ride in ensuing Assembly polls in many States. May 12 polls are crucial for the BJP and the Congress which establish supremacy in the dance of democracy. Karnataka has 224-member House and the election fought with high voltage fervour by all the three parties which include the ruling Congress, BJP and the JD(S) which is expected to play a kingmaker role.

Prime Minister ruled out hung assembly in the state and said BJP will form the government on its own. He also said there will not be truck with any party after the polls. “There are many people who are sitting in AC rooms and saying there will be a hung assembly. I want to tell them- come here to Raichur and see the mood on the ground.”

He also attacked dynasty politics and blamed Nehru for wrong economic policies. He said “How can we forget that Congress party put an end the politics of the proud son & architect of modern Karnataka, Nijalingappa Ji because he questioned the wrong policies of Nehru”.

At Hubballi he accused Congress being involved in dance of money. He also assured them developing seven cities including Hubballi and Dharwad.

Meanwhile BJP Chief  Amit Shah hit out at the Congress party for celebrating Tipu Sultan's Jayanti and said that Congress and Pakistan think alike. "Both are chanting the name of Tipu Sultan."

"The Congress and Pakistan have amazing telepathy. Yesterday, Pakistan government remembered Tipu Sultan, whose jayanti (birth anniversary) the Congress marks with fanfare and today  Mani Shankar Aiyar admires Jinnah. Be it Gujarat or Karnataka polls, I fail to understand why Congress involves Pakistan," he claimed.

In another development in the poll bound state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah lashed out at Prime Minister for stooping so low in his discourse in election rallies. Participating in a meet the press programme organized by the Bengaluru Press Club and Bengalur Reporters guild he slammed Modi for making "personal attacks" and speaking at a "low level".

He also expressed confidence that his party will form the government and said there is no anti incumbency against his government as people are happy with the programmes his government has given.

He  said "We expected a dignified language from him (Modi). But what he spoke was the BJP's language and not the one of a civilised person. He spoke at a very low level —this is not the language of the Prime Minister."
