Signs of development

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Diplomacy on bended knee” (May 4) by Deepak Sinha. The history of North-East’s alienation and neglect is something of the past.  The present Government is making sincere efforts to ensure development, better bonding and integration of the north-eastern States.

While the Look-East policy is taking shape, a lot needs to be achieved. With regards to China, India is faced with Hobson’s choice. The Armed Forces remains ill-equipped; infrastructure conditions are pathetic, and most projects are delayed due to red tapism.
