After a brief respite last week, day temperature in the city continued to climb on Monday. Weather experts forecast maximum temperature hovering above 40 degree Celsius rest of the week in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad recorded 40.7 degree Celsius on Monday according to India Meteorological Department. Maximum day temperature rest of the week is likely to be around 41 degree Celsius, the IMD informed. Four days ago, the maximum temperature had dipped sharply due to rainfall.

The IMD has not ruled out respite from relief as it has also hinted at thunderstorm activity. Localised thunderstorms during summers are difficult to predict in advance, officials said, adding that they can quickly form over an hour and last a few hours before dissipating.

Much of northern Telangana continued to reel under intense heat as temperatures crossed the 42-mark. According to the Telangana State Planning Development Society, Allipur in Jagatial recorded 43.9 degree Celsius, the highest for any station in the State.
