Youth killed over minor squabble in Laxmisagar

In yet another example of the deteriorating law and order situation in the areas under the Laxmisagar police station, a liquor shop salesman was beaten to death by two youths in a haircutting salon at Mochi Sahi near Old Station Bazaar over a minor argument on Sunday.

While one of the accused belonging to Laxmisagar was nabbed by police, another is still at large.

Reports said the deceased identified as P Kamesh had an argument with the two youths while having a haircut in the salon. Fuming over the argument, the two youths left the shop. But when Kamesh came out of the salon, they hit him with a bamboo shaft, leaving him critically injured. Although Kamesh was rushed to the Capital Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

Kamesh’s family informed that he had returned from Shirdi on Saturday. “He never enters into arguments in the family, let alone with outsiders. We do not know why they killed him. He had no enmity with anyone,” said a relative of Kamesh.

However, the broad daylight murder has sent shockwaves in the area; and the locals have blamed lax policing for the rising number of such incidents.
