Ujjain’s Journey to Smart City begins: Developmental works worth Rs 14 crore launched


Ujjain: Urban administration and development minister Maya Singh attended foundation laying ceremony of construction works worth Rs 14 crore. The work would be carried out under Ujjain Municipal Corporation’s Fund and Smart City Scheme. ‘Ujjayini App’ developed by Ujjain Smart City Ltd was also launched. A single window app, it will provide information about nearby dustbin, e-rickshaw, pinch app, bike sharing and buses to residents.It can be downloaded from Google Play Store.

Under Ujjain South assembly area, foundation for works worth Rs 10 crore was laid at Nanakheda Stadium. Pipelines will be laid at a cost of Rs 481.42 lakh to provide drinking water to newly developed 28 colonies of Nanakheda area. Under Ujjain North assembly constituency, construction works worth Rs 4 crore were kicked off at Kartik Mela Ground. These include permanent construction work in Kartik Mela Ground, rotary construction on Chimanganj Mandi Agar Road crossing and boundary wall of transformer station on MR-5 Road.

Addressing the programme, Maya Singh said “the department is concerned with development of one-third of residents. Our goal is to provide basic amenities such as electricity, water, medicine and better life to people living in cities. Under the Amrut Yojana, sewer line will be laid in the district. Pure drinking water will be transported to each home. For this, the team and local administration will have to work together. It is a matter of pride and happiness for all of us that Ujjain has become a world-renowned district. The development works should be continued in the same fashion.”


Energy minister Paras Jain, Member of Parliament Chintamani Malviya, MLA Mohan Yadav and other dignitaries were present. Mayor Meena Jonwal chaired the programme. Municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar J gave outline of the programme. Welcome speech was given by Kalawati Yadav.

Bhumi pujan for Nanakheda Shopping Complex held

Prior to it, urban administration and development minister Maya Singh performed bhumi-pujan for construction of Nanakheda Shopping Complex. The work will be undertaken by Ujjain Development Authority (UDA) at a cost of Rs 14 crore. UDA chairman Jagdish Agrawal presided over the programme. Energy minister Paras Jain, Member of Parliament Chintamani Malvia, mayor Meena Jonwal, BJP president Iqbal Singh Gandhi (urban) and Shyam Bansal (rural) were present.

CEO Abhishek Dubey said that the construction work will be done on green concept. Natural resources like sun rays and air will be used to ensure maximum benefit to owners. Maya Singh appreciated the design and elevation of the proposed complex and said that it would be a mile stone in the direction of smart city.

She said that such type of modern complex provide facilities to shopkeepers. In his presidential address Agrawal said that the UDA will complete the work within 15 months and ensure full quality standards. He said that complex will be spread over 930 square metre. There will be 10-ft broad corridor in front of every shop and parking facility will be made available at the front and back of the complex. Fifteen shops/office chambers will be constructed on each of ground, first and second floors. Their size will be 11×27 ft.
