Light rains lash several parts of Pb, Hry

Several parts of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday received light rains, providing relief to the people from hot weather conditions.

Chandigarh received light showers during the day and mercury dropped by a few notches, said a Met department official.

A few parts of Haryana, including Panchkula, Ambala and Yamunanagar, received rains while Mohali, Ropar and Patiala in Punjab too received light rains.

During the past few days, the maximum temperature at most places in the region had been hovering two to three notches above the normal.

After rainfall, Chandigarh recorded maximum temperature at 31.7 degree Celsius, seven notches below normal while minimum temperature was recorded at 25 degrees.

Among other places, Narnual recorded a maximum temperature of 37 degrees, Hisar settled at 38.5 degrees, Ambala at 37.6 degrees, Amritsar 30.7 degrees, Ludhiana 32.5 degrees ad Patiala recorded 34.7 degrees.

The Met Department has forecast thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds at isolated places in next 48 hours in Punjab and Haryana.
