Ro-ro: Corpn, KSINC asked to settle issues

The Kochi Corporation must bilaterally solve with Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation Limited (KSINC) issues related to delay in launching the services of ro-ro ferries between Fort Kochi and Vypeen. Looking for alternative options to operate the much-awaited ferries would further delay their launch, said Majnu Komath of Fort Vypeen Janakeeya Koottayma, a conclave of NGOs. The present stalemate could have been prevented if the KSINC had made it clear before the ferry launch that the service would be opened to commuters only after trained drivers were roped in and all paper works were ready, he said.

The KSINC withdrew the service the very day it was launched by the Chief Minister.

MP protests

K.V. Thomas, MP, has claimed that the gherao of Mayor Soumini Jain on Saturday was equivalent to a challenge to the public. He claimed in a statement here that the action against the Mayor was with the knowledge of the district committee of the CPI(M). He also demanded that the CPI(M) and the Chief Minister apologise to the Mayor.
