A 42-year-old Mt. Pleasant woman with a long history of driving troubles spent the weekend in jail after being stopped again for driving without a license.
“An officer stopped a vehicle for an expired registration,” said Jeff Browne, public information officer for the Mt. Pleasant Police Department. “The driver identified herself with a Michigan ID card. She had six driver responsibility fee suspensions.”
Lisa Currier was stopped about 6 p.m. on Saturday at Mission and Fairfield when an officer noticed her license plate was expired since January.
Turned out, she had two prior convictions for driving while her license was suspended in addition to the six driver responsibility fee suspensions and had no insurance on the car.
She’s in the Isabella County Jail on $700 bond for third offense driving while suspended, driving without insurance and driving on an expired registrations.
Earlier this year Currer was sentenced to 19 days in the Gratiot County Jail for contempt of court for failing to appear and driving on a suspended license.
