Salman Khan’s bail plea in blackbuck poaching case adjourned to July 17

New Delhi: A Jodhpur trial court on Monday adjourned hearing in Salman Khan’s bail plea in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case to July 17, said media reports.

District and Sessions Judge Chandra Kumar Songara adjourned the hearing after the defence counsel Mahesh Bora sought time to begin arguments.

Salman had appeared before the judge in compliance with the directions given by the court on April 7 while granting bail.

Salman Khan had arrived at Jodhpur in Rajasthan on Sunday afternoon to appear before the court. He was accompanied by his lawyers, his sister Alvira and friend Baba Siddiqui.

The Bollywood actor on April 5 was convicted in the 19-year-old case and sentenced to five years jail for killing two blackbucks at Jodhpur during the shooting of the 1998 movie ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’.

Subsequently, Salman was granted bail after spending two nights in the Jodhpur Central jail.

However, Salman’s ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ co-stars Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Saif Ali Khan and Neelam and Jodhpur resident Dushyant Singh, another accused in the case, were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
