Rajinikanth, who was away in the US, reached Chennai in time to be a part of grandson Ved’s birthday on Sunday. Ved is the son of his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth.

Superstar Rajinikanth planned his return from the US in such a way that he was around for his grandson Ved’s birthday. On Sunday, Soundarya Rajinikanth’s son, Ved Krishna, turned three. Pictures from his birthday party were shared on Twitter by his mother and they look adorable. Present in one of them is proud grandfather as he watches his grandson blow the candles on his birthday cake. Rajini’s wife Latha, actor and son-in-law Dhanush and composer Anirudh Ravichander also attended the birthday party.

In one of the pictures Soundarya shared on Sunday, we get a glimpse of Ved’s birthday party which is filled with kids. The cake itself is pretty interesting -- it is a fire engine. Thalaivar and his wife Latha lean over as Ved blows the candles.

Soundarya captioned it: “That’s celebration with family.”

Other pictures too give us a peak into the Rajinikanth household. In one of them, Ved and uncle Dhanush are having a gala time. There’s another picture of aunt Aishwarya and Ved and it is overflowing with love. In yet another we see Soundarya, mother Latha and music composer Anirudh Ravichander in a single frame with the birthday boy in his grandmother’s arms.

Describing her son as an angel, Soundarya said he was a miracle of her life.

Soundarya married Chennai-based industrialist Ashwin Ramkumar in 2010, but their marriage fell apart in 2015. The couple, who separated two years, officially divorced year back.

Having started her career as a graphic designer, Soundarya moved to working in films such as Baba, Majaa, Sandakozhi and Sivaji. She made her directorial debut with her father starrer Kochadaiyaan, apart from founding Ocher Picture Productions. Last year, Soundarya directed VIP 2 with her brother-in-law Dhanush.
