102 Not Out box office collection sees 50% jump, collects Rs 9.05 cr in two days

Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor’s 102 Not Out has earned Rs 9.05 crore in two days at the box office as Omerta collected Rs 1.64 crore.

Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor’s 102 Not Out has picked up at the box office on strong word-of-mouth.

After a slow opening on Friday, Amitabh Bachchan-Rishi Kapoor-starrer 102 Not Out collections soared by 57.10% on the second day of its release, earning Rs 5.53 crore on Saturday. Directed by Umesh Shukla, of OMG Oh My God fame, the film is a celebration of life where 102-year-old Amitabh plays dad to his 75-year-old son, played by Rishi.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the development on Sunday morning: “Strong word of mouth is translating into BO numbers... #102NotOut witnesses an upward trend on Day 2... 57.10% growth... It’s all about maintaining the pace today [Sun] and also on weekdays... Fri 3.52 cr, Sat 5.53 cr. Total: ₹ 9.05 cr. India biz.”

Based on Saumya Joshi’s Gujarati play of the same name, 102 Not Out hit theatres on May 4 along with Hansal Mehta’s Omerta which collected Rs 1.64 crore in two days.

Adarsh tweeted, “#Omertà witnesses growth on Sat... While the growth is substantial, the overall total remains on the lower side... Sun biz holds the key... Fri 54 lakhs, Sat 1.09 cr. Total: ₹ 1.64 cr. India biz.”

Both Rajkummar Rao-starrer Omerta and 102 Not Out opened slow on Friday, collecting mere Rs 54 lakh and Rs 3.52 crore respectively. Even Omerta did almost double the business on day 2.

Omerta is based on the life of British terrorist Omar Shaikh Saeed and the major terror incidents he was involved in - killing of American journalist Daniel Pearl and the kidnapping of foreign tourists in India.
