Strategic time-out

OVERS 7: Krunal Pandya joins his brother from the other end. And his first over is an expensive one. A straight six from Robin Uthappa brings up the fifty for KKR and then Nitish Rana strikes a four off the penultimate delivery. 13 runs from the over. Score 60/2

OVERS 6: Hardik Pandya has bowled a tidy final over of Powerplay. Three runs in it. Had it not been for Mayank Wankhede dropping a sitter at mid-on, Hardik would have gotten his second wicket in Robin Uthappa. Score 47/2

OVERS 5: A short delivery from Mitchell McClenaghan and Nitish Rana uppercuts it over the third man fielder for a six. 11 runs from the over. Score 44/2

OVERS 4: Five runs in the over including a boundary Nitish Rana. Score 33/2

OVERS 3.1: OUT! Both the KKR openers back in the dugout. Shubman Gill takes the aerial route off the very first delivery of Hardik Pandya. The ball goes high in the air but Krunal Pandya nicely settles underneath to complete a fine catch at mid-off. Gill scored 7. Score 29/2

OVERS 3: Robin Uthappa is the new man in. 13 runs and a wicket in the over. Score 28/1

OVERS 2.5: OUT! Mitchell McClenaghan has been hammered for three fours in four deliveries but he gets the important breakthrough in Chris Lynn. A short delivery and Lynn has been caught by Jasprit Bumrah at shot fine leg - against the run of play as runs were flowing for the visitors. He scored 17 off 13. Score 28/1

OVERS 2: This over negates the good work of McClenaghan's first. Three fours in the over. Although, Jasprit Bumrah was unlucky to have conceded two fours - one coming off an outside edge to third man and one via four byes as the ball beat everyone including the batsman and the 'keeper. The second four though was a convincing boundary from the bat of Chris Lynn threading the gap in the cover region. 13 runs from the over. Score 15/0

OVERS 16: A productive over for MI. Prasidh returned to bowl his third over and it was going well till he bowled a short and wide delivery that was cut for a four by Hardik Pandya. He then paddled the sixth delivery to fine leg boundary to make it 11 runs from the over. Score 143/3

OVERS 14: Mitchell Johnson returns. And delivers a tight over - four singles in it. His first went for 15 runs. Score 126/2

MATCH PREVIEW

Looking, at last, like a team wanting to defend its title, Mumbai Indians' road to redemption in the Indian Premier League faces another tricky test, as they host a formidable Kolkata Knight Riders. The defending champions seemed resurgent after a tense win over Kings XI Punjab, though their play-off hopes were still hanging by a thread, thanks to a spate of reverses over the past few weeks.

The 21-ball 56-run blitzkrieg between Krunal Pandya and Rohit Sharma in Indore is history and MI will next need to tame KKR, who have a reputation of being fierce opponents, at the Wankhade Stadium. MI's under-performing batsmen finally clicked last night against Kings XI and will look to replicate their performance against another top of the table outfit. Mumbai jumped to the fifth spot having won three of their nine games while KKR are sitting comfortable in the third position. The hosts have to win all their remaining five games to make it to the play-offs.
