Bihar: Man kills father, brother over unequal land distribution

SAHARSA: A man allegedly shot dead his father and younger brother over unequal distribution of land in Saharsa district of Bihar on Sunday, police said.

His sister-in-law and nephew were also injured in the incident.

The incident occurred at Situaha Dih village under Salkhua police station when the man identified as Mantu Yadav alias Vinod Yadav shot dead his father Hardeo Yadav (80) and his younger brother Ashok Yadav (45), Salkhua police station SHO Tarun Kumar Tarunesh said.

Ashok Yadav was sleeping on the terrace with his wife Kanchan Devi and their son Bittu Kumar when he was shot dead by his brother Mantu Yadav, the SHO said

On hearing the gunshots, their father came out of his room but his son Mantu Yadav fired at him also, killing him on the spot, the SHO said.

The police said the octogenarian had gifted an additional 3 acres of land to his youngest son which led to the killing.

Kanchan Devi and her son Bittu Kumar, who sustained bullet injuries in neck and chest respectively, were admitted to a hospital in Salkhua where the doctors, after administering first aid, referred them to Saharsa sadar hospital.

The accused, Mantu Yadav, was absconding since the incident, the SHO said.
