NEW DELHI: The three municipal corporations continued with their anti-encroachment drive under Supreme Court directions on Sunday.
South Delhi Municipal Corporation seized 53 vehicles and demolished extended portions of shops. “The drive was conducted on two stretches—Manohar Nagar to the red light at district centre on Outer Ring Road, and Uttam Nagar terminal to Dwarka Mor and 17 vehicles were challaned,” said a senior official from south corporation.

Deputy mayor of east Delhi Kiran Vaid and east Delhi municipal commissioner Ranbir Singh inspected areas in Mayur Vihar Phase-I on Sunday. They found large-scale encroachment on footpaths and roads in Block 35-36, 27 and 13. Singh told the authorities to clear the roads and footpaths for pedestrians.

North Delhi Municipal Corporation carried out a similar drive in Narela and removed temporary encroachments from a 1.25km stretch from Kanjhawala to Ghevra and Karala to Mundka. No vehicle was seized.
