Charter boat crew member missing 200km off central Queensland coast

An air and sea search is underway off the central Queensland coast after a charter boat crew member was reported missing early Sunday.

The man was last seen on the 23-metre vessel from Gladstone about 2am and when he could not be found two hours later the alarm was raised.

Police said authorities were searching an area near Swain Reef, 200km north-east of Yeppoon.

Two fixed-wing aircraft from Mackay and Canberra have started searching, with water police also on their way.

Authorities have appealed to boat users in the area to be on the lookout for the missing man.
