Arunoday Singh: The true failing of Bollywood is in not nurturing its writers

Actor Arunoday Singh believes that he has “limited time” as an artist, and in that time, he wants to do everything that fuels his passion. Having been a Bollywood actor and a voice-over artist for over a decade, Arunoday has now forayed into the digital space. Happy to wear multiple hats, he says that he grows and learns with his experience in varied mediums.

“I plan to do whatever improves me, be it theatre, acting, or singing. I want to evolve and understand my craft even better. I’m an artist, I have limited time and I want to do only those things that I’m passionate about,” says Arunoday, who was last seen in the film Blackmail, alongside Irrfan and Kirti Kulhari.

The actor, who also does stage shows occasionally, says, “I’m open to experimenting with different mediums of art. The medium never bothered me and I’ve never restrained myself from taking up new challenges.”

After being a part Bollywood for a decade with films such as Aisha (2010), Yeh Saali Zindagi (2011), and Mohenjo Daro (2016), Arunoday observes that Bollywood has failed in one particular aspect. He says, “The true failing of Bollywood is in not nurturing its writers. There are so many good writers who just fall by the wayside in Bollywood. The digital medium gives these writers more scope. The more things are written well, the more worthy content there is for actors. I think it’s an exciting time for me.”
