Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha to marry Piramal Group scion Anand Piramal

It’s going to be mega celebration time for the Mukesh Ambani family this year as wedding bells will be ringing for Mr. Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha and son Akash, later this year.

Ms. Isha Ambani will marry Anand Piramal, executive director of $10-billion Piramal Group and son of the group’s chairman Ajay Piramal.

In April, her twin brother Akash Ambani was engaged to Shloka Mehta, daughter of Russell Mehta, promoter of Rosy Blue Diamonds.

Ms. Isha Amabni is likely to marry Mr. Anand Piramal in December, around the same time Mr. Akash Ambani will tie the knot.

“Isha is likely to tie the knot before since she is the elder of the two, was born few seconds ahead of her twin brother Akash,” a source in the know of the developments told The Hindu. However, it couldn’t be officially confirmed if Ms. Isha Ambani will be married ahead of Mr. Akash Ambani. “The dates of their marriages are not yet out. The dates will be out once they are firmed,” said another source.

Mr. Anand Piramal and Ms. Isha Ambani have been long-time friends and both their families share a strong bond of friendship for over four decades, said the source.

Mr. Anand Piramal is the founder of Piramal Realty and before that, he founded Piramal Swasthya, a rural healthcare initiative that treats 40,000 patients a day. Mr. Anand, a Harvard graduate, was previously the youngest president of the Indian Merchant Chamber-Youth Wing, and acknowledges that Mr. Mukesh Ambani had encouraged him to become an entrepreneur.

Ms. Isha, 26, is a Yale graduate, and is a director on the boards of Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail. Credited with instilling a culture of youthful dynamism in Reliance’s businesses, she will complete her management course from Stanford by June.

Mr. Anand Piramal proposed to Ms. Isha Ambani at a temple in Mahabaleshwar. The couple celebrated the occasion with a lunch joined by family members from both sides.
