The Government today said, around 1150 Cochlear Implant Surgeries have been conducted successfully during the last four years. This was stated by Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar. He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the ‘Cochlear Implant Awareness Programme’ at Faridabad in Haryana.
According to an official release, the Minister said, the government has empanelled 172 Hospitals throughout the country for such surgeries. Mr Gurjar said, under Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase, Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP) Scheme, there is a provision for Cochlear Implant surgeries of Hearing Impaired children up to the age of 5 years at a cost of six lakh rupees per unit. After successful Cochlear Implant Surgeries, the child is able to hear and speak like normal children.
