Soon, reach Lucknow from Allahabad in just 45 minutes

ALLAHABAD: Soon, Allahabad residents would be able reach Lucknow within 45 minutes. Come June 14 and locals would be able to board direct flights to Lucknow and Patna from the Bamrauli airport.
Apart from a 72-seater plane to ferry passengers from Allahabad to the state capital and Patna, another flight between Allahabad and Nagpur and Indore would start operating June 16 onwards.

UP civil aviation minister Nand Gopal Nandi said, “Allahabad is all set to get direct flights to Lucknow, Patna, Indore and Nagpur from next month. Allahabad would be connected to other major cities before Kumbh-2019.”

“The flights would boost regional connectivity and the the travel time between Lucknow and Allahbad would take less than 45 minutes.”

With flights between Allahabad and cities like Nagpur, Indore and Patna, locals would find it easier to visit states like Bihar, Maharastra and Madhya Pradesh.

Gupta also said that the better connectivity would encourage investments in the region and that both the Centre and the state government are working together to connect more UP cities with flight services.

Under the scheme, 11 new airports are being developed across the state and in next 15 months and new flights will start from Aligarh, Azamgarh, Bareilly, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Moradabad, Sonbhadra, Allahabad and Shravasti.

Before Kumbh-2019, as many as 13 cities—Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Mumbai, Gorakhpur, Dehradun, Kolkata, Raipur and Pune—would be connected with Allahabad.

“The timing and schedule of flights would be announced later” said the UP minister, adding that “ We are focusing to improve air connectivity from Allahabad to all major cities of the country by year end.”
