Alma College senior Brooke Tubbs of St. Louis has been awarded the Fulbright Scholarship to study and research education programs in the Philippines.

Tubbs, who graduates this spring with a major in integrative physiology and health science and a minor in Spanish, becomes Alma’s 27th Fulbright Scholar since 2003. A graduate of St. Louis High School, she is the daughter of Craig and Laurie Tubbs.

“I was speechless and overwhelmed,” says Tubbs in describing her reaction to learning she had received the post-graduate award. “All of the hours, late nights and stress of the application process were worth it. I feel so humbled to have been selected.”

She will report to Angeles City initially, but her research requires her to travel to other cities and rural areas in the Southeast Asian country.

Following her 10-month Fulbright experience, Tubbs plans to enter a doctoral program in occupational therapy, with hopes for a career as an occupational therapist working with people with disabilities.
