India and Sunrisers Hyderabad cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has a massive fan following with his aggressive batting and stylish moustache leaving cricket lovers from around the country in awe of his personality. However, on Sunday it was Dhawan’s turn to be left completely floored by a gesture from one of his fans named Shankar.

Dubbing Shankar his ‘biggest’ fan, Dhawan wrote an emotional post on Twitter and shared a picture in which he, along with his wife, were seen posing with his fan’s family. Shankar had travelled all the way from Bengaluru to meet the Hyderabad player, a gesture that the 32-year-old found humbling.

“It was wonderful meeting Shankar, “my biggest fan” and his family. They came all the way from Bangalore to meet me. I feel truly humbled when my fans go to such lengths. Thank you Shankar and all my fans for your love and support. Love you all ❤️ #myfans #mybiggestsupport,” Dhawan wrote in his tweet accompanying the photograph.

Dhawan, who is fondly referred to as Gabbar, has had a rather quiet IPL so far. After starting the tournament with a blistering knock of 78, he has failed to score big, amassing 185 runs from 8 matches with an average of 30.83 and a strike rate of 131.20.

However, his team is currently sitting atop the points’ table with seven wins from nine matches. On Saturday too, Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a clinical performance to beat Delhi Daredevils by seven wickets. Dhawan contributed 33 off 30 balls in the win. Hyderabad next play Royal Challengers Bangalore at home on Monday.
