Gurugram car crash: 2 dead, woman pilot fights for life

Two people died and a woman pilot got injured after a SUV hit a Swift Dzire car head on in a 16-lane underpass on Golf Course road on Sunday morning.

The fatal accident took place between Mahindra Scorpio and Swift Dzire around 5 am. The impact of the accident was such that the Swift car become mangled after a loud thud.

The victims were later taken to nearby Neel Kanth Hospital where two of them Vinod Yadav, the driver and Kishor Kumar, a security guard succumbed to their injuries, while Swarn Gayatri, the pilot of Indigo airlines, is battling for her life. She has sustained multiple fractures in scull and chest.

The incident occured after Gayatri, a resident of Dhoot Time Residency, had hired private cab to go to airport.

When Swift Dzire car reached at Sikandarpur underpass, a speeding Scorpio, coming from Cyber City on the wrong side, hit it the car head on. The Scorpio was over 100 kmph. The speed of sedan was also over 80 kmph.

Eyewitnesses have said that there were four occupants inside the SUV and they fled from the spot soon after the accident, leaving the vehicle in lurch.

We have registered an FIR under rash and negligence driving against Scorpio occupants and seized the vehicle. Efforts are on to identify accused on the basis of registration number of Scorpio. A hunt has also been lunched to nab them, said Ravinder Kumar, PRO of Gurugram police.
