‘ID card must for receiving cheques’

The district administration is all set to give away 2.40 lakh cheques to farmers under the Rythu Bandhu scheme towards the farm investment in the kharif season from May 10 to 18. The distribution will be extended by another day, if required, Collector M. Ram Mohan Rao said.

At a press conference here on Saturday, he said that new pattadar passbooks would also be handed over to the farmers along with the cheques. The passbooks were being printed and they would be delivered provided they were complete. The issue process will be conducted at school buildings or gram panchayat offices from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., he said.

Mr. Ram Mohan Rao said that showing of Aadhaar Card for receiving of cheque was not mandatory but any ID card, including Aadhaar card, was a must. Bankers were requested to open dedicated counters to enable farmers to encash cheques. Appealing to farmers use the money issued under the Rythu Bandhu scheme appropriately, he said that if they had any problem in encashing the cheques they could call the monitoring cell which would function under the Joint Collector. He said slips with details of farmers would be supplied to them one day before the disbursement of cheques.
