Sonam Kapoor is all set to tie the knot with longtime boyfriend, Delhi-based Anand Ahuja, on May 8. The wedding preparations have begun in full swing at Anil Kapoor’s residence with Sonam’s husband-to-be Anand arriving in Mumbai for the D-day. And with the wedding, Sonam will join the list of actors who got married to Delhiites. Here we look at the some of them:
Anushka Sharma
Bollywood’s ‘Pari’, Anushka Sharma and Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli kept everyone guessing about their marriage. And on one fine evening, the news confirmed their wedding. The couple first met during an ad shoot and following that the rumours of them being romantically involved started. Though Anushka never admitted in public, Virat often posted pictures with his lady love. Virat belongs to a Punjabi family in Delhi. His family was living in Paschim Vihar’s posh Meera Bagh area until 2015 before they shifted to Gurgaon.
Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur
Delhi-based industrialist Sanjay and Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor married each other in 2003 and Karisma had filed for divorce in 2014. And, after 11 years, the couple parted ways officially in June 2016. The former couple also has two children, Samaira and Kiaan. And Sunjay is now married to his rumoured girlfriend, Priya Sachdev in 2017. On the other hand, Karisma is believed to be dating businessman, Sandeep Toshniwal.
Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput
‘Haider’ Shahid Kapoor broke several hearts when he announced his marriage to Delhi-based girl Mira Rajput in a private affair. The two met at Radha Swami Satsang in Beas, a religious group that both families are members of and in an arranged way the duo tied the knot in Gurudwara. To those who don’t know, Mira’s family originally hails from Punjab, she has lived in Delhi’s Chhatarpur area.
Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha
The couple’s love story began with Sahil going to Dia’s house to narrate a script. The duo began dating in 2009 and the official proposal happened in 2014. According to reports, Sahil went down on his knees and proposed to Dia right in the middle of the Brooklyn Bridge and when Dia said yes, everyone present on the bridge including the tourists, cheered for them. Sahil hails from a Sikh family in Delhi. His family house is in Greater Kailash, in South Delhi.
Asin Thottumkal and Rahul Sharma
Khiladi Kumar, Akshay, played cupid in bringing the couple together. Akshay was the one who introduced his ‘Houseful’ co-star to his good friend Rahul Sharma, co-founder of Micromax. As per the reports, Rahul proposed Asin with Rs 6 crore solitaire ring designed by Farah Ali Khan with letters AR engraved on it. He proposed Asin in Malayalam. Post marriage, Asin has shifted base to Delhi after her marriage. Even Rahul’s office, Micromax Headquarters, is on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.
Kunal Kapoor and Naina Bachchan
Naina Bachchan, the name says everything. Kunal and Naina first met when they attended Karan Johar’s fashion show where Naina came with cousin Shweta Bachchan Nanda, daughter of megastar Amitabh Bachchan. The two got engaged in 2013 and the couple always maintained a low profile while being in a relationship and also during the courtship. The duo also got married away from the media glare in a private ceremony. Naina is a daughter of Ajitabh and Ramola Bachchan who is born and brought up in Delhi.
