North Queensland Cowboys prop Scott Bolton has been charged with indecent assault following an incident in Bondi, Sydney, on Saturday night.

New South Wales Police confirmed a 30-year-old man had been charged with assault with an act of indecency and has been granted conditional bail.

A Cowboys spokesman confirmed the player charged was Bolton.

"The club will be making no further comment at this stage."

An NRL spokesperson said: "The NRL Integrity Unit has been made aware of the alleged incident."

Seven News reported Bolton was "allegedly harassing and inappropriately touching a female patron".

Police were called to licenced premises on Campbell Parade about 10.50pm (local time), after a female patron reported she had been indecently assaulted.

Detectives began an investigation and arrested Bolton at Waverley Police Station about 9.20am on Sunday.

Bolton, 30, has played 215 times for the Cowboys and was part of the 2015 premiership-winning side.

The Cowboys are staying in Sydney between last Friday night's away victory over the Panthers in Bathurst and Thursday night's away clash with Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval.

Bolton will appear in Waverley Local Court on June 19.
